The internet is a funny place. All of us get to say or do whatever we want. We really don't know who most of the people out there writing all this stuff are. Do you know me? You might have been a passenger on an Airliner or Military Jet I flew. You might have read my book.
Robert Allen, John Chow and others have made a nice living selling information and links on the internet. Recently I ran across a blogger talking about his "three figure" income. I couldn't help but laugh. Does anyone really want to be happy sitting in front of a computer all day for $124 a day? My painters, my landscaper and my techs all make way more than that.
What is different though is the freedom. This is still the greatest country in the world and after touring the world with the Air Force Reserves, I can tell you there is no greater place to be. Here in the U.S. I have friends of dozens of nationalities, races and religions. The availability of high speed internet has given me and a host of other people the opportunity to put our thoughts online and even sell them for a reasonable price. When I wrote the book So, Now What? I hadn't yet heard of John Chow, and only knew of Robert Allen by reputation.
Recently John Chow posted a video of him and his daughter wandering around his neighborhood in Vancouver and no one else was around. When I first started out as an airline pilot, life was much the same way, work weekends, then have weekdays off to do all kinds of cool things. Later on the big difference between my business life and airline life became control.
Running an internet business, which in itself is really multiple streams of income, gives me all the flexibility I could ever want as long as I am willing to do the work. Like John Chow said, you have to do this every day for a long time before it takes off. When it does, look out. The trick really is to post something at least every week, and better yet every day. If you are posting stuff people want to read, then they will follow. Money is just a short click behind the followers.
If you want to start an internet business and create multiple streams of income, you can start with my book, So, Now What? The book will help you figure out what to focus on. After all we can't all blog about racing crappy cars around Houston can we? What will your on-line life be about? Mine is about high performance living. This weekend I am driving in the 24 Hours of Lemons race in our 1993 Cavalier Race Car. It is a real blast, and not something I could do with most jobs. Maybe this time I will find out what the other people do for a living out there. Last time I met three CEO's and four business owners. Our drivers are myself, my brother (a programmer for kuhlapps.com), my dentist and a financial planner. All of us really set our own schedule and run our own show.
Creating a living from multiple streams of internet income isn't easy, but is sure is easy living. I am working on a follow up book to So, Now What? That will offer step by step guidance to get you started if you choose that path. Otherwise, So, Now What? should give you answers to go in whatever direction you are going to enjoy living the most.
Get your goals in focus and let life be great!
